KARACHI: Shifting of garbage dumping site demanded

By A Reporter

KARACHI, July 14: The residents of North Nazimabad’s Block-L have expressed their annoyance over conversion of a playground into a garbage dumping site in front of a local mosque, which, according to them, is a constant headache for people.

The inhabitants of the locality in a joint statement demanded of the town nazim of North Nazimabad to restore the status of the playground by ordering the shifting of the garbage dump to somewhere else.

Earlier, the dumping site was located in Umer Goth, but it was shifted to this playground near the mosque some two years back where scavengers collect items of their interest from waste, the statement added.

The statement further added that the hazardous rubbish is set on fire in the same premises and it further aggravates the situation for the increasing population.
