Inter-provincial cooperation meeting

ISLAMABAD, July 11: Minister for Inter-Provincial Co- ordination Salim Saifullah Khan chaired a high level meeting attended by federal secretaries regarding the implementation status of the recommendations made by the sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Balochistan.

The minister directed all divisions and departments to expedite the filling up of vacancies of Balochistan quota and advertised all vacancies in local newspapers of Balochistan.

He said that high qualification and physical standards can be relaxed for induction of local people in different departments.

The minister issued strict instructions and asked the ministry of health to make necessary arrangements to make Sheikh Zayed Hospital Quetta operational by September 15.

He took notice of the National High Authority (NHA) slow process and called for expediting the work on roads construction because Gwadar Port will be ready for commissioning by December 2008. He also called a meeting of National High Authority in this regard.

Mr Khan said that the ministry of information and broadcasting should play active role in projection of different mega and mini development projects in Balochistan.

New television channels and radio stations should be open for this purpose.

Most of the recommendations of the sub-committee have been implemented and the next follow-up meeting regarding the implementation status will be held in Quetta, the minister added.

Deputy Chairman Senate Yar Mohammad Jamali also attended the meeting on special invitation and he specially emphasized on the provision of jobs and relaxation of standards for the people of that province.
