KARACHI: Speedy work on uplift schemes stressed


KARACHI, July 11: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has stressed on further gearing up the pace of work on development schemes in the province so that their benefits could reach the people at the earliest.

He said the very objective of the government's efforts was to bring improvement to the living conditions of the common man and this had to be ensured.

He was speaking at a high-level meeting held at the Governor’s House on Tuesday in which the obtaining conditions, including development activities, availability of employment opportunities and measures for good governance came under consideration.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, provincial ministers Nadir Akmal Leghari, Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi, Adviser on Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Senator Ghaffar Qureshi, MPA Mohammed Hussain and Nazim of Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil.

Exchanging views, the governor and the chief minister stressed upon the ministers and officials to ensure timely completion of quality work.

He pointed out that development schemes will not only helped provide facilities but also employment opportunities to the people .

He expressed determination of ensuring financial discipline and good governance in the province.

The meeting discussed measures for poverty alleviation and decided to take steps for the maximum availability of employment opportunities in the private and public sectors.

The meeting expressed thanks to the president and the premier for the federal government's cooperation on the on-going projects in Karachi and in the agriculture and irrigation sectors.—APP
