LAHORE, July 10: The Punjab national junior squash championship for boys and girls entered semi-finals stage at the Punjab Squash Complex on Monday. In boys' Under-19 event, only Adil Atlas (NWFP) had to go into the fourth game to beat Asim Shahzad (NWFP) 4-9, 9-0, 9-2, 9-2 after fighting for 31 mins.

Shoaib Hassan (Punjab), Riaz Ali (Punjab) and Kashif Khan (Sindh) had easy sailing in the three other quarter-finals.

In the girls' U-19 contest, Aliya (Punjab) was also stretched to four games by Zeba Pervez (Punjab) before winning in 32 minutes 9-0, 9-5, 7-9, 9-5.

Zoya Khalid (Punjab), Mehwish Hanif (Punjab), and Maria Toor (NWFP) registered straight games win in other three quarter-finals.

In the only quarter-final, which was extended to fifth game, Aurangzeb Khan (Punjab) struggled hard to carve out win against Noor Ali (Punjab) to enter the U-15 prefinals.

Aurangzeb fought for 83 minutes to eventually make exist of spirited Noor with the score being 6-9, 10-9, 9-2, 3-9, 9-6.
