Double crown for Ghazal

KARACHI, July 9: Ghazal Mir Masood earned double titles in the two-day 16th Optimist sailing championship that concluded at PAF Yacht Club, Korangi Creek on Sunday.

Only four races from the scheduled seven were possible on the second day due to high winds ranging from 20 to 25 knots.

The 13-year-old Ghazal won the Optimist National championship as well as Optimist Girls' championship with five penalty points.

Adil Jalil Zuberi secured second position with ten penalty points followed by Talha Nadeem with 16 penalty points.

In Optimist Girls, Maria Sehr grabbed second place with 19 penalty points while Ayesha Rao and Fabia shared third position with 40 penalty points.

Ujala Mir Masood, elder sister of Ghazal, won the Laser 4.7 trials with four penalty points which were conducted simultaneously with the championship for foreign training.

Hussain Patel claimed second position with 12 penalty points while Shazli Tahir grabbed third spot with 13 penalty points.—PPI
