SHEIKHUPURA, July 4: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has stressed the need for making the political atmosphere conducive with a determination to serve the common man without any discrimination.

The chief minister, following an aggravated political situation owing to a row between district nazim Mian Jalil Sharaqpuri and naib nazim Malik Rahmat Ali, had convened a meeting in his office on Tuesday with MNAs and MPAs to resolve the disputes between them.

He advised the nazim and the naib nazim to shun their differences and work according to the guidelines given in the Local Body Act.

He termed the annual budget presented by the nazim on July 1 in the absence of the naib nazim illegal and unlawful. Even the budget session was presided over by Sabir Bhatti that was also declared illegal.

The chief minister said according to the Local Body Act, the naib nazim was the convener of the house. Therefore, it was his constitutional duty to preside over the session.

He directed both the nazim and the naib nazim to recall the budget session to present it again according to the rules and regulations.

Senator Naeem Husain Chattha, MNAs Saeed Virk, Khurram Munawwar Manj and Shahid Manzoor Gill, MPAs Abid Chattha, Mian Khalid Mahmood, Rai Jehanzeb Khan, Ijaz Sehol and Gull Aghaalso attended the meeting.
