Execution stayed for a month

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, June 19: The government on Monday stayed for a month the execution of a murder convict scheduled for early Tuesday morning in the central prison. An official of the central prison said time had been given to the family of the prisoner, Jawad Khan, to arrange a compromise with the rival family.

“In case there is no compromise between the rival groups, then a fresh date will be fixed for the execution in July,” the official said.

Jawad Khan, 30, of the Rustam area in the Mardan district had killed his friend, Khalid, in 1996.
