HEC to set up students’ counselling centres

ISLAMABAD, June 13: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to set up students’ counselling centres at public sector universities of the country, said an official statement. The centres would provide guidance to students on academic matters, career and psychological support along with job counselling, help procure jobs on completion of their studies and other students related issues.

Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, University of Malakand, University of Sindh, Kohat University of Science and Technology, Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, University of Sindh Jamshoro and Lahore College for Women University have established such centres.

These centres have already started delivering guidance to students on academic matters and job opportunities, internship and placements as well as other students related issues.

Some of these universities also provided facilities for the assessment of intelligence, ability and aptitude, and were in the process of making available career guidance material in printed as well as audio/video form about market oriented professions.
