Pettersson holds lead at rainy Memorial
DUBLIN (Ohio), June 3: American Steve Flesch surrendered his first-round lead to Sweden's Carl Pettersson on Friday as the weather-hit Memorial tournament headed into a marathon weekend.
Pettersson, one of only 29 players in the field of 102 to complete the second round, fired a flawless five-under-par 67 to end a wet, truncated day on eight-under 136.
Level with the Swede was American Sean O'Hair, who birdied three of the first six holes before play was finally halted in fading light at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
For the second day in a row, thunderstorms intervened and the second round was held up for more than six hours with the course left waterlogged by heavy morning rain.
With further thunderstorms forecast for Saturday is likely to have each of the first three rounds spill over into the following day.

KARLSSON SETS RECORD
NEWPORT (Wales): Swede Robert Karlsson broke the European Tour's 36-hole aggregate record on Friday to earn a four-shot halfway lead in the Wales Open.
His rounds of 61 and 63 for a 124 total beat Tiger Woods and Frankie Minoza's records by a stroke and, on 14-under-par, left Karlsson four strokes clear of three Britons, first round leader Phillip Archer, Simon Dyson and Paul Broadhurst.
