Court moved in PR scam

ISLAMABAD, June 3: A petition was moved on Saturday calling upon the Supreme Court to overrule the Public Accounts Committee’s findings that the former railways minister and others should be cleared in the Rs5 billion locomotives scam.

The petition was filed by PML-N’s joint secretary Siddiqul Farooq.

It also requested the court to order the recovery of the total amount from “the beneficiaries of the deal” and said under the deal, substandard locomotives and railway carriages had been imported from China. He also requested the court to order the PR to submit details of the deal between the Pakistan Railways and the Chinese exporters.

Siddiqul Farooq also pleaded that the apex court should also direct PAC to submit the record of its inquiry.—Staff Reporter
