NAWABSHAH, June 3: The Islami Jamiat-e-Tuleba has appealed to the chief justice of the Supreme Court to take action against the government for spreading secularism in academic institutions, omitting Quranic verses from the syllabus and getting students in Karachi allegedly killed by the APMSO.

District Nazim IJT Abdul Wahab, Nazim Colleges Zone Mashooq Baloch and Nazim Universities Abdul Rehman told a press conference at the local press club on Friday, that the government had omitted Quranic verses from the syllabus under pressure from the USA.

They alleged that the workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killing innocent students in the academic institutions in Karachi. They were also involved in Nishtar Park incident, they charged.

They criticised the vice-chancellors of Peshawar and Punjab universities for banning religious programmes in the universities’ premises and said it proved that the government was working on American agenda to turn Pakistan into a secular state.

They accused the governor of Punjab of trying to sabotage the biggest book festival of the country which was had been held in Punjab University since last 20 years by deploying a heavy contingent of police.

They announced that the IJT would observe a protest day against secularism, change of syllabus and terrorist activities in educational institutes in Nawabshah on Monday.
