No MMA decision on agitation: Fazl

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, June 2: MMA Secretary-General Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reiterated that the religious alliance has taken no decision to launch a movement against the government in September.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the MMA would take other opposition parties into confidence before deciding on the movement.

Responding to a question, he said the MMA would not boycott the next elections in any eventuality. He recalled that the boycott of the 1985 partyless polls had afforded an opportunity to apolitical forces to come to the fore. He said in the light of that experience, the religious alliance would not stay away from the polls, no matter whether Gen Musharraf was on the scene or not.
