FST suspends CDA directors till next hearing: Violation of orders

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 31: The Federal Service Tribunal (FST) on Wednesday took serious note of violation of its orders by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the promotion case of two senior officials of the planning wing.

According to FST orders, CDA’s decision to promote two junior officials on the posts of directors has been suspended till the next hearing of the case to be held on July 26, 2006.

The FST in its first hearing had directed CDA to restore the status of petitioners Khaliquz Zaman and Ashiq Ali Ghori, who have been replaced by their juniors, till further orders but the authority did not pay any heed on the court’s orders and newly promoted officials continued to serve as directors.

The tribunal asked CDA to give their comments and explain as to why and how the courts orders have been violated.

Recently CDA’s deputy director planning Sarwar Sindhu has been made acting director regional planning while Zafar Iqbal, a town planner, who has recently been inducted in CDA and still completing his probation period, has been made director urban planning.

Mr Sindhu has replaced Ashiq Ali Ghori while Zafar Iqbal has relieved Khaliquz Zaman, one of the senior most directors of the authority.

Source said Mr Sindhu had superseded his seven seniors while Zafar Iqbal had by-passed 11 senior officials. Strong resentment was being shown by senior officials of the authority on the promotion of their juniors.
