KARACHI, May 27: Three-year-old bay colt, The Conqueror’s, is fancied to oblige punters by sprinting to victory in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He was piloted home by M. Nasir on April 16 beating filly, Black Girl, by two lengths.

However, The Conqueror’s had to be content with second slot as Black Girl avenged her defeat when the two met for the second time on April 30.

Born to sire Bin Nashwan and mare Mrs Champion, the thoroughbred colt is tipped to make amends and starts as our days’ best.

He is drawn alongside 10 runners in the five furlongs second race of the programme. His likely challengers are Lucky Friend and Puma King.

If tried by the connections, three-year-old bay colt, Laat Sahib, who failed to finish on the board in the three successive outings, can bring an element of surprise.

A card of seven races all going over a distance of five furlongs, has been chalked for the day. The first race begins at 2.30pm.

If allowed to run on merit, Desperado should pick up spoils in the opener which had a field of 11 aspirants. He has not shown his true worth on the last three outings.

He should be chased by chestnut, Lucky Five and bay mare, Silent Love. The latter is also owned by the owner of Desperado, Nasrullah.

In addition, horses to be watched are thirteen-year-old bay mare, Home Made, seven-year-old bay mare, Choti Dunya and ten-year-old mare, Taneez.

Owner trained nine-year-old bay, Auzy, is poised to emerge triumphant in the third race. He should be followed by Tag Team and Raka Poshi.

Three-year-old filly, Jan-e-Mun, owned by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, can upset the odds.

Having grabbed two second places on trot, four-year-old dark bay filly, Sky Girl, looks set to run away with the honours in the next race.

Daruwala and Goldi Locks should fight out for the places. However, animal to be watched is three-year-old bay filly, Queen Of Mirwa.

Drawn in a pack of 13 contenders, five-year-old bay, Canon Ball, should claim the fifth race to be chased home by Princess Ridda and New Ferrari.

The sixth race should see three-year-old chestnut colt, Red Rufus, making it two in a row. He was fancied in the last meeting also but the race was cancelled.

Earlier, three-year-old bay colt, Captain Black, was withdrawn. Four-year-old bay colt, Tharkyee, can pull off a surprise.

Kicking King should return with flying colours in the concluding event to make it two in a row.

After his facile win on May 14 with Mohammad Essa in the saddle, he had advantage of handicap.

Stormy Kiss and Smiling Face who too have won their last races and promoted to better class and division, are also in the run among nine horses in the race which is restricted to Pakistani horses in class IV and V division I and II.

Following is the field and our selection.
