Tennis: Aqeel cruises past Kedriouk


ISLAMABAD, May 24: Aqeel Khan of Pakistan toppled higher-ranked Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhstan in the “Futures” tennis tournament at New Delhi (India), according to reports available on Wednesday.

Aqeel, the country’s top tennis player who has slipped to 1412 in world rankings, upset Kazakhstan's Alexey Kedriouk, (the world no. 388), 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-3.

On conclusion of “Futures” Tournament at New Delhi, Aqeel will compete in another “Futures” tournament at Dehradun, starting early next month.

Pakistan Tennis Federation has sponsored Aqeel Khan for both these “Futures” tournaments.

A wild-card entry at New Delhi “Futures”, Aqeel will meet Narayanaswamy Srirambalaji of India in the second round of the tournament.—APP
