India to release 59 fishermen

NEW DELHI, May 23: India is to release 59 Pakistanis held for illegal fishing as a goodwill gesture, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday. “The Pakistani fishermen are being released unilaterally on humanitarian grounds,” a statement said.

It said the men would be sent back on Saturday from Munabao in the western state of Rajasthan by the Thar Express, the second rail link between two countries.—AFP
