SAHIWAL, May 21: The Punjab Irrigation secretary has constituted a three-member board to investigate causes of Friday’s breach in the Lower Bari Doab Canal.
This was stated by the superintending engineer, Sahiwal LBDC Circle, Chaudhry Tariq Jamil.
He said the uprooting of a big tree by a windstorm had apparently weakened the canal bank.
His explanation differed from that of the chief engineer’s who had held ‘rate holes’ responsible for the damage.
