LONDON, May 15: Pakistan paceman Rana Navedul Hasan and former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed showed why they are one of the most potent bowling combinations in English county cricket as Sussex beat Glamorgan on Sunday.
Their third successive C&G Trophy win came by a 97-run margin as Glamorgan were bowled out for 160.
Naved took 5-30 in eight overs with new ball and Mushtaq finished off the tail, claiming 3-36.
Sussex earlier totalled 257-8 after stand of 126 between Michael Yardy (88) and Carl Hopkinson (61).
Visitors struggled at the outset against a Glamorgan attack strengthened by return of David Harrison, who sent opener Matt Prior on his way for first ball duck and won lbw decision against Richard Montgomerie (23). Both fell to Alex Wharf, but target of 258 looked tough for Glamorgan.
So it proved as they crumbled to 48-6 with Naved's accuracy, ability to vary his pace and movement off the seam confounding top order.
David Hemp made 23 before he was caught off Luke Wright, but resistance came from Richard Grant and Harrison, who added 55 for eighth wicket.
They were parted when Grant was caught for 36 by Goodwin off Mushtaq, who then removed Harrison for 30 and ended game by bowling Andrew Davies for 18.
England paceman Steve Harmison took two wickets but made a losing return from injury as Lancashire beat Durham by 125 runs at Old Trafford.
Harmison finished with two for 47 off 10 overs as the hosts made 307 for five.
Harmison made the breakthrough, taking Mark Chilton on 19, but centuries by Mal Loye (127) and Brad Hodge (118) allowed the hosts to set a daunting total.
Despite an opening stand of 64 by Jonathan Lewis and Jimmy Maher, the visitors' task was rendered improbable after they lost four wickets for just three runs with Glen Chapple and Simon Marshall taking three wickets apiece.
Lewis (37), Maher (34) and Phil Mustard (33) top-scored, with Harmison making 17.
David Sales' century was in vain as Yorkshire held off the challenge of Northamptonshire to win by two runs in a high-scoring game.
Darren Lehmann (118 not out) scored his second ton in a week and with Craig White (112) helped set an improbable total of 341 for three.
Northamptonshire were reduced to 90 for three but Sales shared a stand of 215 with Chris Rogers as the pair made 161 and 85 respectively.
However, they lost three wickets, including that of Sales, for just eight runs and Yorkshire held on to win.
