Elections under UN, EU demanded

MIRPURKHAS, May 14: The All-Parties Action Committee has demanded that the next elections should be held under the supervision of the Amnesty International, United Nations and the European Union.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, the committee called for arrest of the culprits behind the Nishtar Park tragedy and urged the government to stop demolition of old villages and end police atrocities in the province.

Committee leaders Asghar Narejo, Abdul Majeed, Zahoor Leghari, Qaisar Khan Mari, Mufti Mohammad Sharif Saeedi, Iltimas Sabir Qadri, Abdul Malik Noohani and Ghulam Hussein Nohano alleged that the workers of a government coalition partner had been appointed in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpurkhas without any merit.

They demanded that the government should remove the City District Government Karachi for demolishing old villages and give autonomy to provinces under 1940 resolution.

The leaders also called for release of Javed Hashmi, leader of PML-N, Dr Safdar Sarki, Younus Khan, Dr Safdar Naeemi, Sikandar Soomro and Junaid Buland. They said that terrorists were ruling the province.

Police were torturing innocent people, they said deploring the fact nobody had taken notice of brick kiln owners’ injustices to their workers.
