Garrison ‘A’ on top

LAHORE, May 13: The defending champions, Garrison 'A' team maintained top position with an aggregate of 407 at the end of the second day of the 16th Corps Commander Cup golf at the Lahore Garrison course on Saturday.

The team comprising Tashfeen Ashraf, Asif Nadeem, Amir Goraya and Nisar have increased their lead to 13 strokes against Garrison 'B', which is in second position.

The 'B' team fought well through ex-Test cricketer Aamir Sohail and Mustafa Rafi but Masood Piracha's performance was a little slack on the second day whose first day score was net 66 and second day was 75 and this gave Garrison 'A' team a substantial lead.

For the Garrison 'B' team much depends on Aamir's performance on Sunday, the final day.

Though Aamir's second round lacked the first day's excellence when he produced a card of 62 against one-under-par-71 on Saturday that also made him leader in the net event.

Aamir had a two-stroke advantage over a potentially strong rival Tashfeen Ashraf, who scored the best net round of the day, 66.

Another strong competitor Asif Nadeem Asif and Aamir Goraya are joint at 137.

In the gross section, Wasim Rana and M. Safdar are bracketed at the top position with aggregate 145, each.

In the ladies section, Shahzadi Gulfam of Punjab Police leads, both in the net and gross.
