Rizwan, Shahid pair in semis

KARACHI, May 9: The pair of Rizwan Shamsi-Shahid Aziz inflicted a straight 6-1, 6-1 defeat on M. Iltifat-Karim Gul Aga to cruise into 35 plus doubles semifinals of the second National Seniors tennis championship at the Karachi Gymkhana on Tuesday.

However, Iltifat had some consolation when pairing with Seher Khwaja the duo won the mixed doubles match against Mehdi-Aley Zehra.

The latter after losing the opener 6-0 retired and conceded the match.

Tahir Gul also moved into the 45 plus singles final after top seed Khwaja Masroor conceded the battle due to wrist injury. Tahir now meets Azheruddin in final.

Meanwhile, the organisers have abandoned 55 plus event due to lack of entries.

Results:

35 plus doubles (quarterfinal): Rizwan Shamsi-Shahid Aziz bt M. Iltifat-Karim Gul Aga 6-1, 6-1.

Mixed doubles: M. Iltifat-Seher Khwaja bt Mehdi-Aley Zehra 6-0 (retd).
