County Cricket: Naved bags rich haul of wickets

LONDON, May 6: Rana Navedul Hasan, the Pakistan all-rounder, continued his excellent form in the English County Championship by returning match figures of 11 for 148 as Sussex chased victory against Nottinghamshire on Friday.

Naved followed his four for 86 in the first innings with seven for 62 as Notts collapsed to 221 all out in the second innings.

The reigning Division One champions, needing 193 for victory, closed at 139 for five in the second innings.

But despite Strauss's efforts, Hampshire had no alarms in scoring 17 runs long before tea on the third dayof the four day match.

Lancashire were the day's other top-flight winners, defeating Kent by six wickets at Old Trafford.

After making 363 for a narrow first innings lead, Lancashire saw England hopeful Sajid Mahmood advance his claims for a Test debut next week with four for 24.

It was a timely burst by the cousin of British boxing Olympic silver medalist Amir Khan with England pace trio Stephen Harmison, Simon Jones and James Anderson all currently injured.

And it meant Kent slumped to 124 all out despite a gutsy 60 from England wicket-keeper Geraint Jones. That left Lancashire needing just 89 for victory.
