Land for Haj Complex allotted

LAHORE, April 30: The Lahore Development Authority governing body has allotted a 57-kanal plot in Tajpura Housing Scheme for the construction of a new Haj Complex and decided to allow relaxation in maximum height restrictions for buildings in Expo Centre in Johar Town and International Hotel site on Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam.

The governing body which met here with District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood in the chair also decided to exempt Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and Fatmid Hematology Complex, Johar Town, from site plan approval fee. It also approved allotments of a two-kanal plot in Allama Iqbal Town to the social welfare department for the construction of a community centre, a plot in Gujjarpura Housing Scheme for a mosque, and a five kanal plot in Johar Town for the office of the Mines chief inspector. Plots were also allotted for the construction of a post office in Johar Town and a police station in Mustafa Town.

The governing body also approved increase in emoluments of Wasa work-charged staff in accordance with the Punjab government’s notification and authorised it to remove encroachments from its drains and storm water channels. A 10-marla plot in Gulberg was allotted to the City District Government Lahore for the construction of a dispensary. The Judicial Employees Cooperative Society was allowed to amend its bylaws for allotment of plots to the bereaved families of judicial officers killed in Sialkot Jail incident. Lesco was allotted a plot for the construction of a grid station in Gulberg. A proposal for purchase of ‘nazul’ land on Pir Bahawal Sher Road for providing alternative land to 81 people displaced from Choburji Development Scheme was also approved.

The governing body meeting was attended by LDA director-general Raja Muhammad Abbas, DCO Mian Muhammad Ijaz, town Nazims Tariq Sana Bajwa, Mian Javed Ali, Sheikh Muhammad Younas and Yousaf Ahad Malik, Wasa managing-director, Tepa chief engineer and representatives of housing and finance departments.
