LAHORE, April 29: Former Pakistan cricket captain Saleem Malik on Saturday urged PCB ad hoc chairman Shaharyar M Khan to return to his job at foreign office as cricket was not his domain.

Saleem made the remark while speaking at a reception held by Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in honour of the Indian Senior cricket team on Saturday.

Shaharyar had advised the former Test star to play cricket at his home and forget about representing the country.

PCB refused to give Saleem permission to play for the Pakistan Senior team in the ongoing four match series against Indian Seniors as the former middle-order batsman is facing a life ban imposed by a judicial commission headed by Justice (retd.) Abdul Qayyum, for match-fixing charges.

Saleem criticised the PCB management claiming that Shaharyar and his hand-picked officials in the PCB had no knowledge of the game and also blasted the board for engaging Bob Woolmer and his South African back-up staff on astronomical salaries which was nothing but wastage of money.

Former Indian skipper, Azharuddin, who was also suspended from the international cricket for alleged match-fixing said that he was happy to meet Saleem after a long time.

"We played a lot of cricket against each other and I am happy meeting Saleem," he said.

Former Indian wicketkeeper Syed Mustafa Kirmani said that the PCB and BCCI should organise joint training camp and also should exchange the experience of the academies with each other.

Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz said that the Pakistan Seniors team should include Saleem in the team to play the last match of the four-match series against Indian Senior to be played on Sunday.

Former leg spinner Abdul Qadir said that veterans cricket was important since the people wanted to see the old greats in action.
