Revenue collection rises by 18.9pc

ISLAMABAD, April 29: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has collected Rs536.4 billion during the July-April period of current fiscal year as against Rs451.112 billion during the same period last year, showing an increase of 18.9 per cent.

Official provisional figures released here on Saturday showed that revenue collection recorded a growth in all federal taxes during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year over the last year.

The tax-wise details showed that the direct tax revenue had increased by 22.6 per cent during this period reaching Rs163 billion against Rs133 billion during the same period last year.

The sales tax collection has increased by 21 per cent during the period under review as it stood at Rs226 billion this as against Rs186.8 billion last year.

Collection on account of customs duty has reached Rs104 billion during current fiscal year as against Rs89.7 billion last year, indicating a growth of 15.9 per cent.

The federal excise duty collection increased by 4.3 per cent this fiscal to Rs43.397 billion as against Rs41.607 billion last year.
