LAHORE, April 27: The Punjab chapter of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has agreed to provide subsidised sugar to the federal government for providing to the poor.
The association took the decision at its meeting held here on Thursday with Mian Shahid Shafi in the chair. The final proposal, however, will be prepared on May 12.
In a press release, the association said the central secretary-general had issued instructions to all zonal offices to build a consensus for the provision of 10 per cent of their stocks’ subsidised sugar to the government.
Should that happen, the release claimed the millers would suffer a loss of Rs920 million. —Staff Reporter
