CHAKWAL, April 27: The judicial magistrate, Chakwal, Sheikh Tauseer-ul-Rehman on Thursday awarded one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs0.5 million each to the three including a general councillor for violating marriage function act, and they were handed over to the police.

They were involved in illuminating their houses at marriages. Deputy District Officer, Revenue, Saqib Atteel sent cases against general councillor, union council, number three Chakwal city Sajid Hussain, Tamkeen Syed and Malik Sajjad Hussain to the court.

Judicial Magistrate summoned them but the accused dismissed the allegations and said they had illuminated their houses for Eid Milad-un-Nabi and Mehfil-e-Naat. The judge after hearing the arguments from both sides gave the verdict.

Correspondent from Taxila adds: In a blatant violation of a ban imposed by the Supreme Court, people are still serving meals at marriage ceremonies at clubs, hotels, restaurants and community centres in Taxila, Wah Cantonment and Hassanabdal, it has been learnt.
