KARACHI, April 27: A record cargo volume of 0.122 million tons comprising 0.091 million tons of import and 0.031 million tons of export cargo was handled at the port during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Berthing activity was also brisk as four ships carrying containers, furnace oil and iron ore were berthed at the QICT, Fotco Terminal and IOCB.

Meanwhile, three more ships with containers and chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage. Berth occupancy remained 78 per cent as nine ships were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, canola seeds, edible oil, crude oil, furnace oil and iron ore.

Baravia Express, Sagar and Venus-7 were due to leave the port.

Seven ships, Sagar, Ilaria, Bulk Phonix, Anette Kosan, Samho Horn, Keefan and Angeliki-D, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
