Only 40 per cent grant utilised

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, April 26: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is using only 40 per cent of the grant, received under the revised Aid 26 scheme of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), on coaches.

The AFC included Pakistan in the scheme from Jan 1, 2006, and fixed US$6,000 per month for the country. But the PFF is utilising only US$2,600 as it has recommended names of only 12 coaches from a total of 150 who passed the AFC 'C' Licence course.

When contacted, PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat said he was unaware about the exact situation and said the federation was receiving US$6,000 annually and giving Rs2,500 per month to each coach.

Dawn has obtained names of the 12 coaches who are getting the salary under the scheme.

They are:

Shehzad Anwar, Mohammad Rashid, Fazal Ghaffar, Saeed Ullah, Jalal Qazi, Mohammad Kareem, Mohammad Tariq, Niaz Ahmed Abro, Sakhi Rehman, Iftikhar Ullah, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Aslam.
