LAHORE, April 26: Akhtar Rasool Chaudhary has been replaced with Khalid Mahmood as the chief selector of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

Khalid has been selected after Akhtar’s resignation was accepted by PHF president Tariq Kirmani on Wednesday.

The change was expected as the Lahore High Court had stopped Akhtar Chaudhary from working as an adviser to the Punjab government as he was convicted in contempt of court case.

According to a press release issued by the PHF, Hasan Sardar, Manzoorul Hassan and Akhtarul Islam were retained as members of the selection committee.

The Pakistan team did not win any major title during Akhtar’s four-year-long tenure.

There are reports about reshuffling in the officials in the wake of the recent debacle in the qualifiers. Coach Asif Bajwa and manager Saeed Khan are also likely to be replaced.

Speculations were aired regarding the change of national team's management after the performance of the team in the World Cup qualifying round in Changzhou.
