PESHAWAR, April 26: The workers union of City Development & Municipal Department (CD&MD) on Wednesday put off their call for strike when assurances were given by Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Amanullah Haqqani, that work on the Regi Model scheme would be taken up soon.
The minister, after listening to grievances of the workers’ union, said that work on the Regi Housing Project would start at the earliest. He said that the problem would be brought in the notice of the chief minister so as to help resolve it the problem.
Mr Haqqani said that the government was earnestly working for the resolution of the problems faced by the people.
On this occasion various matters related to the said scheme came under discussion and different proposals were presented in this connection.
Earlier, led by president of workers union of CD&MD, Haji Bakhtiar Khan, General Secretary Zulfiqar Khan, Mian Hidayatullah and Qari Hayatullah, members of all societies, property dealers and contractor association met Mr Haqani in his office.—APP
