Master plan for AJK capital finalised

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, April 25: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) has completed the most difficult phase of a master plan for the devastated capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the administrator of Municipal Corporation Muzaffarabad said here on Tuesday.

Mr Zahid Amin told Dawn that AJK chief secretary would unveil details of the master plan after holding consultations with the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (Erra).

“Some basic rules have been determined in the master plan for widening of roads and streets, creation of green-belts, public parks and playgrounds and establishment of educational and healthcare centres and other offices,” he added.

The administrator said that the central part of the town would be the hub of municipal activities while district offices would be set up on the site of old civil secretariat.

Offices of the state capital, he said, would continue to exist in Chattar area.
