QUETTA, April 25: Police investigators said on Tuesday that a blast which destroyed a house in Baloch Colony and killed five members of a family was caused by a powerful bomb.
They said that police had found some evidence pointing to a bomb explosion while sifting through the debris of the demolished house.
“Investigators found a timer device, wires and other evidence in the debris of the house,” Balochistan’s Inspector-General Police Chaudhary Mohammad Yaqoob said, adding that the condition of the body of Kamaluddin (the house owner) also pointed towards a bomb explosion.
“Both hands of Kamaluddin were missing,” he said, adding that it showed that the man was handling an explosive device, which blew up the house and killed five people.
He said that other members of the family were burnt badly by the fire caused by the powerful explosion. “The condition of the collapsed house also supports the findings of the police investigation team,” IGP Balochistan said.
He said that the police would also question the second wife of the Kamaluddin, who suffered burn injuries in the incident.
Chaudhary Yaqoob said that the police and other agencies also had information about cross-border movement of some people, adding that Kamaluddin’s name was also among those who had come from the other side of the border.
“The involvement of cross-border elements cannot be ruled out in terrorist activities,” he said, adding that it was second incident in the past 72 hours in which Afghanis were found to be involved.
