LAHORE, April 25: Former Test spinner Mohammad Nazir retired as Test umpire after supervising last round match of the Pentangular Cup between National Bank and Karachi Harbour at the Qadhafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Nazir, who made his Test debut in 1969 against New Zealand at Karachi, supervised four Tests — against South Africa in 1997 at Sheikhupura, against Australia in 1998 at Peshawar, Sri Lanka in 2000 at Peshawar and against England in 2000 at Karachi.
Besides, he also supervised the 6th and 7th Asia Cup played in Sri Lanka in 1997 and Bangladesh in 2000 respectively.
He played 14 Tests and took 34 wickets with five wickets in three innings. He also bagged over 1,000 wickets in 180 first class cricket.
Nazir was presented a shield by a PCB official at the end of the match.
