Militant injured in clash

WANA, April 24: A suspected attacker was injured in a gunbattle between security forces and militants when a checkpoint in Khamrang village of the Birmal tehsil came under rocket attack on Monday.

Witnesses said troops countered the attack with artillery and mortar fire.

The militants took away their injured comrade while retreating towards nearby mountains, they said.

Meanwhile, a trader of petroleum products, Sher Mohammad of Mardan, was kidnapped and his vehicle taken away when he was coming from Azam Warsak to Wana.

BODY FOUND: The beheaded body of an employee of the Water and Power development Authority, Niaz Mohammed, was found in Karwan Manza area of the Laddah tehsil. The victim had been kidnapped from Moma Karama area on April 16.
