Waqar yet to sign contract

Published April 25, 2006

LAHORE, April 24: Former Test bowler Waqar Younis has not yet signed the agreement with the PCB as bowling coach. Waqar was appointed coach before the Pakistan tour to Sri Lanka in March-April.

After the Sri Lankan tour, the team also visited Abu Dhabi to play back-to-back One-day matches against India on April 18 and 19, but the agreement could not be signed.

The agreement is not likely to be signed in near future since Waqar had left for Australia from Abu Dhabi.

No PCB official was available to comment over the delay.

Meanwhile, according to one clause of the agreement, Waqar also has to coach the young bowlers.

This was the best time for Waqar to guide the bowlers in the ongoing Euro-Asia Cup or to coach those, who were reported with suspect bowling action during the domestic season 2005-06 which has ended.

There are a number of bowlers, who have been reported with suspect bowling action in the domestic cricket.
