Taliban ‘decree’ death for three men

By Our Correspondent

TANK, April 23: Local radicals known here as Taliban on Sunday decreed the killing of three tribesmen of the South Waziristan Agency for disobeying and manhandling their parents.

A one-page pamphlet, purportedly authored by the Taliban in Urdu, was distributed and pasted outside mosques in the Tank bazaar, which said: “The Taliban Islamic Emirate of Waziristan has declared three persons, Mohammad Wali of Sararogha, Faizullah of Tiarza and Zawel Khan of Tank liable to be killed on charges of beating and disobeying their parents.”

The pamphlet also outlined the plan for killing the three men.

It warned local clerics against leading their funeral prayers, adding that if they did, they would meet the same fate.

Sources said that Taliban had recently opened their ‘offices’ in Tank bazaar near the Jandola Frontier Region, where people had been ordered to grow beards.

Sources said that Taliban extremists also banned internet and CD shops in the remote Tank bazaar, branding all entertainment and information technology tools “un-Islamic”.
