QUETTA, April 23: Mir Haider Ali Jamali, a candidate of ruling Pakistan Muslim League, won Balochistan Assembly seat PB-25 Nasirabad-1 in the bye-election held on Sunday.
According to unofficial results, Mir Haider Ali Jamali begged 22,276 votes while his arch rival Naiz Ali Umrani of PPPP, who also enjoyed support of Balochistan National Party-Mengal, could get 1,382 votes.
The seat had fallen vacant when Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali had resigned after being elected a member of the Senate in March this year.
Mir Jan Jamali had secured 25,527 votes in the 2002 elections while Naiz Ali Umrani could get 1,766 votes.
The bye-election was held in a peaceful meaner despite the fact that 32 out of 86 polling stations were declared sensitive by the election commission of Pakistan.
