One-stroke lead for Ibrar

ISLAMABAD, April 22: Ibrar Khan gained a one-stroke lead in the net category of the President Cup Championship that opened on Saturday at the Rawalpindi Golf Club.

A 10-handicapper, Ibrar was followed by Ejaz Hussain Qureshi (nine-handicapper) in second place with net 69 while Lt. Col (Retd) Munir Haider Malik was 70 net after the first 18 holes.

The title winner of this championship is to be decided on the basis of net scores following 54 holes of competition which is for golfers having handicap of 12 and below.

Islamabad golfer Taimur Hassan and Vaqas Ahmed of the host club were tied for lead on 73 each in the gross category. Haider Attiq followed with a gross score of 76.

The seniors and ladies events begin on Sunday, officials said. Both will be contested over 36 holes each.
