BAHAWALPUR, April 21: The woman councillor of union council No 6 has poured out her ordeal she had to undergo owing to alleged highhandedness of police and education department officials.
In her complaint, councillor Rana Mubarak Khatoon, who is also a member of a girls middle school education committee, said on receipt of information of a row between her sister Kalsoom, a schoolteacher and headmistress Musarrat Ramay, she rushed to the school where she found her sister being allegedly tortured by the headmistress and DEO Yasmeen Akhtar.
She said when she argued with the headmistress and the other official, they slapped and overpowered her and later called in police.
The police, she said, dragged her to police station in the vehicle which was driven by ASI Sajjad Bokhari.
As she contacted union council nazim Hafiz Moeen, she said, he also refused to help her saying “you will be bailed out tomorrow.”
She said she was lodged there for hours until her sister, the first victim, managed to contact MPA Mohtarma Sitara Fayyaz who reached the police station and freed her.
She demanded that the authorities concerned should take action against the district officer and the police.
