KARACHI, April 21: The recent global events have demonstrated the vulnerability of sea lines of communication thus demanding innovative strategies to maintain order at the sea.

The Pakistan Navy has always been alive to changing maritime imperatives and has continually evolved doctrines to meet new challenges. This was stated by Vice Admiral Mohammad Haroon, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, while addressing the debrief session of a four-week long naval Exercise, Pasbaan-i-Bahr III, which concluded here on Friday.

An ISPR (Navy) press release said that the Vice Chief of Naval Staff pointed out that the Pakistan Navy has added responsibilities to fulfil in the wake of current geo-political developments in the region and its influence at the sea.

Being the part of Coalition Maritime Force in the Arabian Sea, he said, Navy’s role has increased manifold which makes it mandatory to rehearse new maritime concepts and achieve professional excellence to prove equal to the task of ensuring safety of sea frontiers and fighting against acts of terrorism.
