PESHAWAR, April 19: A two-day all Pakistan quiz, essay and declamation contest concluded here on Wednesday. The Literary and Debating Society (LDS) of the NWFP University of Engineering and Technology (UET) had organised the contest at the Agha Khan Auditorium, University of Peshawar, said a press release.
The Director Clubs, Dr Javed Iqbal, said that 19 leading public and private universities of the country’s participated in the contest.
The University College of Pharmacy, Lahore, team emerged as champion and won the trophy in the debate round. The NWFP University of Agriculture stood first in the quiz contest. Shuja ur Rehman of University of Malakand stood first and Wasif Ali Khan of MAO College stood second in the essay round while Qazi Aftab of UET Mardan won the first prize of the best speaker.
Vice-Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest. He called upon the students to use creativity and analytical power for developing arguments and urged them to learn the basics of communications, which are essential in real life.
President of UET Literary and Debating Society (LDS) Majid Ali later thanked the participating universities and the administration for supporting the event for the first time in the history of the university.
