Four children drown

RAHIM YAR KHAN, April 16: Four minors drowned in canal here on Saturday night when a speeding motorcycle-rickshaw fell into it.

Reports said Zubaida Begum of Chak no 111/P East along with her two daughters Ambreen, Shabeena and their seven children Haleema Khalid, 4, Anas Khalid, 8, Laiba Shahzad, 8, Ali Adnan, 9, Saad Abdullah, 10, Hamdia Asif, 10, and Arham Asif, 2, was going to her daughter’s house at Sadiq branch canal, East bank by a three-wheeler. Near the Government Officers colony, the rickshaw fell into the canal. As a result of which Anas, Haleema and Laiba drowned while Ali Adnan died on way to Sheikh Zayed hospital. Some passers-by saved rest of the family members. The bodies were recovered after 16 hours on Sunday.

Driver of the motorcycle-rickshaw managed to escape. No case was registered.
