PESHAWAR, April 15: The Peshawar University has set up Khyber Islamic Cultural Society for religious education and promotion of Islamic values among the university students.

Dr Qibla Ayaz, dean faculty of oriental languages and Islamic studies said that students needed moral and Islamic education along with scientific and social studies.

Such activities would help build the student’s character and personality. The societies working under the supervision of university teachers would help achieve this purpose, Dr Ayaz said.

A press release issued here on Friday said that the society was the first body of students of its kind and it would arrange session of teaching of the Holy Quran in various student hostels, departments and other educational institutions.

The society would also conduct lectures and seminars on Islamic culture.

The press release said that the teachers would only supervise the society and the students would be involved in arranging activities of the society.
