KARACHI: JUP accuses Sindh govt of involvement in blast

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, April 15: Leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) have demanded removal of the Sindh government, and called for including the home minister in the investigation for fixing responsibility for the Nishtar Park bomb blast.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, JUP’s Senior Vice-President Allama Sahebzada Dr Abulkhair Mohammad Zubair (MNA) and other leaders took exception to the reported move to involve the US agency, FBI, in the investigations, and alleged that it was aimed at protecting terrorists implementing American agenda.

Sahebzada Zubair said that in the presence of Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, there could not be an impartial investigation. “The Nishtar Park bomb blast is a ‘black spot’ on the face of the federal government,” he remarked, and demanded immediate removal of the Sindh governor and cabinet. He said that the home minister should be questioned after being removed from his post.

Viewing the blast, which left a large number of religious figures dead, in the context of the US-led forces’ drive against Islam and Muslim societies, he regretted that the military regime was accepting everything demanded by the ‘London-based agent of the Jewish lobby’. “Terrorists have full control of the Sindh government and the interior ministry has given them open general licence to kill people in the urban areas of the province.”

He claimed that since long, the claimants of Karachi had been employing all sorts of methods to bring the Sunni Tehrik on its knees.

For this purpose, he alleged, ST ulema were being targeted and killed by the terrorists harboured by the provincial government.

Referring to the apprehensions expressed in the National Assembly, he said that inclusion of FBI in the investigation only reinforced them (terrorists) as, according to him, the move was aimed at influencing the findings and protecting their surrogates.

He said that the regime would blame Al Qaeda or some other fictitious organization to shift the blame and protect its terrorists who were instrumental in fanning sectarian and ethnic hatred and killings.

He said that rulers could not absolve themselves of their responsibility and guilt of association because they had been protecting the elements responsible for law and order and involved in extortion.

He alleged that the police and other relevant authorities failed to take notice of the threats that were being hurled at Sunni Tehrik and JUP leaders.

Why the bomb disposal squad did not maintain a vigil on such a large stage and why the mobile system ceased to function after the explosion? How the home minister could quickly blame suicide bomber for the explosion?

“All these facts are pointing towards a conspiracy, hatched against Ahle-Sunnat, through which the terrorist group is trying to create rift among their ranks and files, and prolonging its rule over Sindh,” he said.

“When the culprits on the attacks on president, premier and corps commander could be arrested, why cannot the government resolve this mystery?” he argued.

In reply to a question, he said JUP would announce its future strategy in consultation with the ST, Ahle-Sunnat Wal-Jamat and MMA, and if appropriate decisions were not taken by the president and prime minister, they would be responsible for the situation that could develop.

He alleged that even on Saturday morning, the terrorists harboured by the government attacked JUP’s New Karachi Town President Mohammad Hanif Sarwari in Ali Mohammad Goth, in the jurisdiction of Buffer Zone police station. He cautioned the government against indulging in such acts and demanded action against the culprits.

Those who were present at the news conference included Allama Jamil Ahmed Naimi, Hashim Siddiqui Advocate, Shabbir Abu Talib, Haleem Khan Ghauri and Maulana Qazi Ahmed Noorani.
