BAHAWALPUR, April 13: The PML-N leaders reiterated to continue the struggle for the restoration of democracy under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Punjab PML-N vice-president and former MNA Aqilur Rahman, provincial joint secretary and former candidate for MNA Chaudhry Saood Majid and MPA Parveen Masood Bhatti at a joint press conference here on Thursday criticised the government for what they termed anti-democratic acts which had put the common man in trouble.

They referred to the poor law and order situation and alleged that due to negligence of the law enforcing agencies the Nishtar Park bomb explosion took place claiming the lives of around 50 men, including religious personalities.

They condemned the government for price hike and unemployment. They demanded the return of exiled PMs Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto.

They demanded arrest of the accused.

Mr Majid, who had met Mian Nawaz Sharif during his recent London tour, told the media that the former premier was in high spirit and sent a message to his workers for continuous struggle for democracy.

The PML-N leaders criticised the district government for victimisation of opponents in the name of biradrism and said their party would promote national cohesion and integration and discourage the tendencies of biradrism.

ACCIDENTS: Two people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents here on Thursday.

Manzoor Mai, 55, was going with her son on a motorcycle when a car knocked them down. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The car driver sped away after the accident.

Imran, 14, was caught in a crossfire between two rival groups.
