PESHAWAR, April 13: The Awami National Party has expressed concern over the killing of innocent people in Karachi’s bomb blast and has demanded that those responsible be brought to justice.

In a statement on Thursday, Zahira Khattak, provincial vice- president of the party said that the gory killing of 57 persons had aggrieved and pained the nation.

The bomb blast, she said, had also exposed the inefficiency of the law-enforcing agencies, who were supposed to preempt such grisly incidents and provide the people with a sense of security. Bomb blasts have become routine affairs, especially in big cities.

She said that such blasts in religious gatherings was the worst type of crime that needed to be controlled.

Pakistan, she said, had came into being in the name of Islam, which advocated peace and tranquillity in the society and protection of the lives and properties of the people. But, the rulers, she said were preoccupied with other matters leaving the people at the mercy of terrorists, who hit at their sweet will. She expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and asked the government to conduct a thorough probe into matter and bring the culprits to justice.
