Raheela’s dream run

LAHORE, April 10: Winning all seven gold medals, Raheela Bano helped Wapda to win the 4th national women cycling championship on Monday.

Raheela after winning five medals on the first two days, added two more on final day making the event one-woman show making her own points tally 105 and Wapda's aggregate 310.

She was adjudged best cyclists of the championship.

Raheela with team-mate Ayesha and Misbah Mushtaq won the sixth event when the team clocked one minute 25.93 secs to win the 1km Olympic team sprint final.

SSGC clinched the second position with a time of one minute 32.64 seconds. The team comprised Anila Ayub, Madiha and Saddaf.

Railways (Nusrat, Fouzia, Irum Rasheed) won the third position.

In the last event, Raheela clocked 14.70secs to win 1km final.

Misbah Mushtaq took the second position while Anila Ayub came third. Earlier, Raheela won two events on the first day (500m time trials, 3kms individual pursuit) and three events on the second day (15km road time trials, elimination race, 3km team pursuit).

Results:

1km Olympic team sprint: Wapda (Raheela, Ayesha, Misbah) one min 25.93sec; SSGC (Anila, Madiha,Sadaf); Railways (Nusrat, Fouzia, Iram).

1km sprint: Raheela Bano (Wapda) 14.70seconds; Misbah Mushtaq (Wapda); Anila Ayub (SSGC).

Wapda: 310 points.

Sui Southern Gas: 92 points.

Railways: 59 points.

Punjab: 23 points.

Balochistan : 18 points.

NWFP: 3 points.
