PESHAWAR, April 10: Shabbir Iqbal retained the title with 11 under par 205 played over 54-holes in the 28th CAS Open golf championship played at PAF Golf Course on Sunday.
Shabbir finished the third round with a blazing 69 to leave behind Shahid Javed and Abbas Ali. He carded 205 (70+66+69), followed by Matloob 208 (71+69+68) and Abbas Ali 209 (70+66+73).
“I did what I had planned right in the start of the championship and despite tremendous pressure from Shahid and Abbas, I played according to a plan,” said Shabbir, who pocketed Rs78,000.
Shabbir posted scores of 33 at front and 36 at back nine with five birdies and missed stroke at 1 and 13.
Matloob, who was trailing at 5, did well to finish with his third round score of 68.
Matloob had five birdies and a conceded stroke at 32 at front and 36 at back nine, followed by Abbas, who scored 35 and 38 at front and back nine.
