ISLAMABAD, April 10: President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have urged Muslims to follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and promote the message of peace, love and harmony contained in His teachings by making it an integral part of their lives.

In a message to the nation on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi, the president greeted all Muslims and paid homage to the Last Prophet and said that the Prophet’s life and noble teachings offered practical solutions to the people of all ages.

He said that the teachings of the Holy Prophet were essentially aimed at the true well being and welfare of humanity, adding that it was the duty of all Muslims to fulfill their duties in letter and spirit.

“We need to act upon the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) not only on this auspicious day but throughout the year. At the same time, we should strive for spreading the message of peace and love so that we may become his true followers” he said. “Let us endeavour to spread the message emanating from the life of the Prophet (PBUH), follow His Sunnah and prove with our actions and deeds that we belong to the Ummah of the Prophet and Founder of peace, who is the benefactor of the entire humanity.”

Islam, he stressed, “is a religion of peace and brotherhood”. The Holy Quran and the life of the Holy Prophet “are a practical demonstration of the teachings of the Quran”.

The Holy Prophet’s teachings “are vitally significant vis-a-vis the betterment of humanity in this era of globalisation”, he said.

“I greet all Muslims on this auspicious day.”

He “is a world reformer, leader of human beings, a source of blessings and an emancipator of humanity. His life and piety of character offer practical solutions to problems that confront people of all times”, said the president.

In a separate message to the nation, the prime minister said that the day was being observed with religious fervour, respect and honour.

The prime minister urged the nation to follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and strive for spreading the message of love, harmony and peace contained in his glorious teachings, which aims at true well being of entire humanity.

He asked the Muslims that they should prove with the “good acts and deeds that they are real followers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)”.

The Prime Minister said: “Muslims around the world love the Prophet (PBUH) beyond anything. It is part of our religion. This is the reason that any Muslim around the world could not even think about any act of desecration against Holy Prophet (PBUH) and cannot accept it.”

Shaukat Aziz said: “We believe in all prophets and give due respect and honour to all the religions and beliefs, therefore, we will not allow anyone to attempt blasphemy against the Holy Prophet (PBUH).”

“Any blasphemous attempt against any nation, religion or belief can be dangerous for the peace, harmony and brotherhood among them,” he added.

The Prime Minister said these blasphemous acts could only help those elements who are talking about the “clash of civilisations.” He urged the world community to take serious notice of these elements, to ensure a peaceful and good international human society.

Referring to the globalisation, the prime minister said, it demanded that Islam should be brought in the international scenario.

The Prime Minister said: “We have to continue efforts to find solutions of our problems, in accordance with the high, moderate and enlightened teachings of Islam.”

Shaukat Aziz urged the nation to unite and prove to the world, with good and noble deeds, that “we are a united and determined nation, which knows how to march forward on the path of peace, progress and prosperity with the world community and keeping in view the needs of modern times”. — APP
